Pedaling allows you certainly keep in shape, but pedaling was 81 years is undoubtedly the proof of an excellent physical health.

Maurice Gagné has just completed a hike of 800 kilometers in seven days in New Brunswick, with a group of about twenty cyclists experience.

“I can be, roughly, 6000 miles per year,” he said.

“I did not intend to remain inactive, it is safe, because it’s part of my life, said Christiane Angelucci, cycle 81-year-old that accompanied him. I do not see myself sitting in an armchair watching television.”

Richard Dufour, for him, had put his bike two years ago due to an injury to the knees. But before that, he was able to pedal in 45 different countries. Since then, he started walking and, at 77 years of age, nothing seems to want to stop it.

“Here, I focus on the walk, I do a lot of walking, he argued. Between 15 and 20 kilometres of walking per day, and I play golf. It allows me to keep a particular shape, anyway.”

So, to those who dare to still say that old age is synonymous with inactivity, here is the evidence to the contrary.

“There, it is not necessary to stop, added Ms. Angelucci. When people ask me, that’s what I say: it is not necessary to stop. If you stop, you not only have fear, then you no longer have a balance… It’s not working anymore, what. So, that is the secret.”
