Slight drop in attendance for the auto Show of Montreal

    The International auto Show of Montreal has just concluded another edition, and now it is the time of the balance sheet to the organizers.

    According to the figures provided by the Salon, 196 133 people have passed through the turnstiles at the Palais des congress from 19 to 28 January. This is a slight decrease in attendance compared to last year, where we were greeted 199 502 visitors.

    Bringing together more than 600 vehicles under the same roof, the 75th edition of the auto Show of Montreal has been the theatre of 38 scoops, canadian and north american first, the presentation of the concept Kikai, at the booth of Toyota.

    This edition 2018 has also welcomed a record 41 electric and hybrid vehicles. The visitors have had the opportunity to put some electric models to the test thanks to the course set up by CAA-Quebec. This year, more than 2600 tests of the kind have been made.

    A 75th edition

    This edition 2018 had a quite particular flavour to the organizers of the auto Show since it was the 75th since the first event of its kind in Montreal, organized in 1914.

    Since the 2003 edition, the Salon de l auto de Montréal is presented at the Palais des congrès. Since that time, the biggest crowd recorded was 220 819 visitors in 2005. It is necessary to go back to 1992 to find the historical record of the Show. This year, 271 917 people had attended the event, then held at the olympic Stadium.

    The international auto Show of Montreal, will be back in congress next winter, from 18 to 27 January.
