Syria: 45 civilians killed in further strikes by the regime against a stronghold of a rebel

    At least 45 civilians, including 12 children, were killed Tuesday in new strikes of the syrian regime against Ghouta eastern rebel enclave in the east of Damascus, according to the Observatory syrian Human rights (OSDH).

    In parallel, two civilians are dead in Damascus of strikes rebels against the capital, according to the official media.

    On Monday, the air raids were 127 dead and 450 wounded, the balance sheet, with the heaviest civilian casualties in a day in this region since the beginning of 2015, according to the Observatory.

    “On the 19th of February was one of the worst days in the history of the current crisis”, told AFP a doctor who is identified under the name of Abu al-Yousr.

    Since Sunday evening, the death toll is much heavier: 189 civilians killed, including more than 50 children, and several hundred wounded.

    These strikes deadly, which continues for the third day in a row, occur within the context of a revival of unusual violence, while the syrian regime is preparing to launch a major ground offensive against the last stronghold of a rebel near the capital.

    The daily Al-Watan, close to Damascus, said on Tuesday that the strikes “are a prelude to a major operation, which can start at any time”.

    The UN has called for in the night in the immediate cessation of the bombardment of the enclave, where are under siege almost 400, 000 people in conditions of humanitarian drama.
