In this position since December, the acting head of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Martin Prud’homme, is that the police force montreal wins in efficiency and in confidence, on the part of the audience as its members.

This week, the number one of POLICE has named its management team and cutting seven positions, from 11 to four deputy directors. The chief has put in position two men and two women from the SPVM, the Sûreté du Québec and the RCMP.

“For 7,000 employees, four it is more effective. I’ve always said the same thing, the best person in the right place,” says Mr. Prud’homme Jean-François Guérin, at 9 o’clock.

Line Carbonneau, a former senior executive of the royal Canadian mounted police has been entrusted with the reins of the new professional standards division at the SPVM. She is responsible for internal affairs.

“I created a directorate for professional standards and for me it was mandatory to have a person from the external. We are lucky to have a great lady of 37 years of experience recognized across Canada and that will help us to put this division into place,” says the chief of POLICE.

“We are going to have eyes external, people who are able to do the evaluation of the SPVM. You have people standing, Mr. Sylvain Caron of the SQ (the new head of the investigation division) and Ms. Carbonneau are there for two years. These people will prepare and identify the succession,” said Mr. Prud’homme.

The acting head of the SPVM is not afraid to change things. “When it comes to a new leader, we upset always. I try to do it on a very human level, but people are waiting for you. The people want to change, and to regain the confidence of the public and to their own police service. We want to change and turn the page,” he concludes.
