Winnipeg — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have scored 13 points in the last 48 seconds of the game and they have made a spectacular comeback to defeat the Montreal Alouettes, 41-40, on Thursday night at Investors Group Field.
Quarterback Matt Nichols joined Ryan Lankford for a distance of four yards to reduce the gap to 40-35, and after having recovered the ball following a kick in short, the Blue Bombers (3-2) have advanced into the enemy territory and finally to crown their push offensive with a touchdown from a yard of Andrew Harris.
The Alouettes (2-4) were, however, forged a big lead in the fourth quarter as a result of two investments of Boris Bede and a touchdown 31-yard Stefan Logan. The collapse defensive and few penalties have, however, enabled the local team to come back to his supporters.
One-quarter of montreal, Darian Durant has completed 27 of his 35 attempted passes, and he has amassed 348 yards through the air. He managed two touchdowns, and he has been the victim of an interception on the second offensive game of the encounter.
Nichols has found a taker on 34 of his 43 passes for gains in air for 358 yards. He threw two touchdowns, including one to Clarence Denmark, at the beginning of the second quarter.
In defeat, B. J. Cunningham has had a strong game for the Alouettes. He caught six balls for gains of 109 yards and a touchdown. Ernest Jackson has also scored a major while the kicker Boris Bede was perfect on his four attempts from placement. The rusher Jean-Christophe Beaulieu has also crossed the goal line.
Harris, on two occasions, and one-quarter substitute Dan LeFevour have successfully touched the ground for the Blue Bombers. Justin Medlock has made two investments, but he has also missed two.
The Alouettes will now take a week off before hosting Jim Popp, Marc Trestman and the Toronto Argonauts at stade Percival-Molson, Friday the 11th of August.
