The East-of-Quebec is in mourning. One of its leading businessmen, Charles Albert has died in the night from Friday to Saturday.

He had been plunged into a coma the day before due to a bicycle accident that occurred in Blainville north of Montreal. The accident took place at 15: 15 on Thursday. It was in the region of Montreal to attend the wedding of his daughter. The ceremony was eventually cancelled.

Charles Albert is primarily known as the co-founder of the clothing stores Pentagon, in 1974.

In the community, the tributes are multiplying. Many make reference to the philanthropist that he was, and his involvement in various organizations. This is the case among others with the “Bike Challenge Pentagon” became the “Défi Vélo Plein Air”, whose latest edition was presented this week-end.

“The shaved Head Challenge, which is a flagship event for our organization, Charles has given him a boost. It has helped us 1000 ways ! I could fill pages of all that he has done for us over the years,” said Daniel Bénéteau, the Association du cancer de l’est, which has extolled his generosity and his talent.

For some, such as the mayor of Rimouski, Marc Parent, the relationship goes back to so far : “Me, my memories go back to childhood. Charles had decided to get involved in alpine skiing, and it was my coach ! And then, then at the beginning of the Pentagon, we had to organise tournaments, junior golf and the Pentagon was a sponsor. Charles has always had a heart for the youth sports. This is the aspect that I remember most. It is certain that he has had a significant economic impact, but I remember really desire to help young people.”

For his part, the senator independent, and former mayor of Rimouski, Éric Forest, pointed out the great contribution of Mr. Albert for the next generation of entrepreneurs. “Charles Albert was a man who was very present. It was someone discreet. We do not know the number of individuals who are engaged in business who have achieved their dream thanks to the support, with the support and advice of Charles Albert”, he notes.
