With all the snow that has fallen this winter, the déneigeurs private, were called out often their machinery, and they are likely to pass the bill on to the consumer.

Several déneigeurs include in their contract a clause which stipulates a maximum amount of snow that will be collected during the winter. The client then pays every inch of snow additional, often in proportion to the invoice.

For example, if the limit is 250 cm, the customer’s bill costs $ 500 and it eventually fell 300 cm during the winter, a new invoice of $ 100 will be sent to the client.

Until now, it has fallen approximately 185 cm of snow on the greater montreal area, and the winter is far from over.

If it exceeds 250 centimeters, the owner of Snow removal Duguay, Sebastien, Duguay, will send a letter to its customers to explain the situation.

“You have to look on his contract clauses. Not all companies that have them; most, yes,” he says.

The magic number set by each company, usually varies depending on the region; in Quebec in the Abitibi region, where snow is usually more than Montreal, it is likely to be higher.

For his part, Mr. Duguay follows the Environment Canada data to calculate the amount of snow that has fallen. He believes that it must protect themselves with a clause of this type.

“I believe that there has not been a big winter like this since 2008. It had fallen to about 400 cm, ” he recalls. We do not have the choice to make a clause like that to avoid that at the end of the winter, it cost us money to get rid of.”

It is possible, for those who want to avoid paying the additional amount, indicate déneigeur; this last will by more from them during the next snowfall.
