The ski resorts of the eastern Townships will receive a substantial support from the government of Quebec. It is the Mont-Orford who left with the biggest part of the cake, followed by Bromont and Mont Sutton.

The Mont-Orford, which receives on average 300,000 visitors during the winter season, has greeted with enthusiasm the announcement of the minister of Tourism, Julie Boulet.

“We received $ 3 million. It will allow us to purchase new equipment, snowmaking, but also to invest in the event,” said Jacques Demers, president of the corporation de ski Mont-Orford.

The managers of the facility are also adding value to their cottage.

The resort of ski Bromont will be paid $ 1.5 million, while the Mont Sutton will be able to count on a subsidy of $ 500,000. “We had made the request earlier this year because we wanted to modernize our system of lifts,” said Charles Desourdy, chairman of Ski Bromont.

An exceptional start to the season

The month of December is an exception to the managers of the ski resorts. In addition to the announcement made by Quebec, the weather conditions are on their side. All the ski resorts in the Cantons-de-l’est have been able to launch the season earlier this year. Orford is open since December 8, while Bromont is available from the 24th November.
