The former hockey coach Richard Martel would stand as conservative candidate for future elections in Chicoutimi-Le Fjord, learned VAT News.
After thirty years spent behind the bench of various teams of hockey, one who is known for his straight talk, his side blazing and his explosive temper would make the jump into politics.
Martel has been the coach of the Saguenéens of Chicoutimi at two times during nearly 11 years before being thanked permanently in February 2011.
He then worked for teams in Sweden and France before returning to the Saguenay to cause the Marquis de Jonquière. Last summer, he was named commissioner of the League of north american hockey (LNAH).
Martel is the coach who has signed, to date, the most wins in the ranks of major junior in Quebec (589 wins). He has won twice the trophy of the coach of the year in the QMJHL.
In his region, he is considered to be a public figure important. According to our information, he is turning professional.
He met influential members of the conservative Party, last Wednesday, in Ottawa, and it seems that the discourse of rigorous economic conservatives would like.
On the 6th of November last, the deputy of the liberal Party of Canada Denis Lemieux announced that he was resigning from his functions for reasons of family order.
The federal government has not yet announced the date of elections.
