THREE-RIVERS | six days of Christmas, to say that Alain Frenette has just received its most beautiful gift would be a cliché and insufficient to tell what is happening to him.

It’s better than a Christmas gift “, smiled the father of the family of 46-year-old who just got the confirmation that it will get finally a bone marrow transplant which should help him overcome leukemia, acute myeloid, a virulent cancer of the blood.

From the point of diagnosis, last July, the people of his entourage have passed tests for compatibility. Nobody could offer him a transplant, not even his twin brother.

“They have me on a waiting list, with the stress that it entails.”

The months have passed. In November, he knew that the countdown had begun. He had launched a vibrant testimony on TVA Nouvelles in order to encourage people to pass a test of compatibility.

“I was living in hope, and it will happen”, lance-t-il visibly moved.

The father of nine children and has undergone many chemotherapy treatments over the last few months. He manages all the same to find the positive in what happens to him.

“These last few months have not been easy, but it really got me closer to my wife and my children. I have also been able to observe that people have this cause at heart, and I hope that we will continue to talk about it to encourage people to pass the tests and give the marrow. Many people are in my situation and are waiting for a transplant,” he says.

Alain Frenette is well aware of the privilege that is offered to him. According to Héma-Québec, only 3% of people registered on the waiting list have the chance of finding a compatible donor.
