The seven members of the Bloc québécois who have left the party caucus will know Saturday whether they could remain members of their training.

The leader of the Bloc, Martine Ouellet, at the heart of a new turmoil in the party, convened a meeting during which it must be decided if the quitters are excluded or not. Disagree with the ways of their leader, the seven mps decided to sit as an independent parliamentary grouping.

Parliamentarians Michel Boudrias, Rhéal Fortin, Simon Marcil, Monique Pauzé, Louis Plamondon, Luc Thériault and Gabriel Ste-Marie announced their decision to withdraw from the caucus of the Bloc on Wednesday. They demanded the resignation of Martine Ouellet, warning in an open letter published Saturday that their exclusion would, according to them, “the death of the Bloc québécois”.

Moreover, in an open letter published Saturday, the mps who have resigned have stated that they would remain “a strong voice for Quebec.”
