The resurfacer for the skating rink at the Manoir du lac William in Saint-Ferdinand in the Centre-du-Québec is to be found in the water around noon Wednesday, when the ice broke under the weight of the engine.

One of the owners of the Manor, Marcel Lessard, was at the wheel of the ice scraper. “These are layers of ice that have frozen separately, due to the repeated passing of snowmobiles, which has made the fragile surface “. Fortunately, there was only a little more than 60 centimeters of water depth at the location of the incident.

A team from the Manor worked part of the afternoon and evening with a tractor and chains to release the gear. The operation was laborious, as we pulled the camera meter by meter by cutting the ice with chain saws.

As the Zamboni is powered propane gas, no leakage of gasoline or oil to report.

The Manoir du lac William, it arranges every year an ice-skating rink more than a kilometre.
