John Turmel is still presented in a partial on Monday, and he lost to a 93rd time.

This time, John Turmel urged the residents of Scarborough-Agincourt, in the suburbs of Toronto, for a position as a federal mp. He only lives not even this district.

In July, it was presented in a region still more distant from his home. He had tried his luck in the provincial in Sault Sainte-Marie, in northern Ontario, a 7-hour drive from his home. The 66-year old man lives in the ontario municipality of Brantford.

This is not the distance that stops him, among other things, he campaigned in the regions of Lévis, Sherbrooke, Ottawa-Gatineau and Toronto, both at the municipal than at the provincial and at the federal level since 1979.

    World Record

The Guinness book of world records has registered the name of John Turmel in the last year to have been the one that has challenged the more times the result of an election. He has filed a complaint after 90 of its defeats.

However, several other exploits of Mr. Turmel is worthy of mention, such as the one to have put her name on three ballots in less than 18 days. In November 1988, he was presented to the provincial in the region of Niagara, while he sought his the city of Ottawa, while campaigning for a position as a federal mp.

Its policy is inspired by the poker

John Turmel is said to have made his living in the industry of the lottery, after a short career in the world of school. He claims to have obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Carleton University and have taught the mathematics of chance in the same prison. It has been, several times, stopped in the 80’s and 90’s for having operated illegal casinos in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

In an interview with The Journal, the colourful character explains that his policy is inspired by its past as a poker player. It proposes a new system of calculation, similar to the one used in the casinos, in order to curb the inflation. He is pushing for the abolition of the regulation on gambling, drugs and prostitution. He does not get this under any banner.

    Results

Mr. Turmel was not expecting to win the by-election held from Monday, not the next. It will continue to occur as long as his health will allow him or her platform will be adopted by a government. He sees in the elections an opportunity to publicize his ideas.

Fortunately, he does not calculate success by the number of votes he gets, because in 83 elections, he has not even raised 1% of the vote.

The Area PolCan is a kind of daily report about current federal, but told in our own way. This will be the opportunity for you to do a little live policy, but by presenting you with things that you don’t see on the news.
