A resident of the Laurentians, which was released with a suspended sentence in a case of drugs must now face the tax man, who seeks to seize their assets for more than $ 600,000 in unreported income.

For years, Stéphane Leclerc made believe that he was earning a modest salary despite the fact that he is the owner of three buildings and a dozen vehicles. In 2015, for example, a man of 51 years had reported income of 11 555 $. From 2011 to 2014, the amounts ranged around $24,000.

But an investigation by the Montreal police has discovered that Leclerc was soaking in a network of sale of drugs, says in an application to the court of Revenu Québec filed on Tuesday at the palais de justice of Montreal.

The tax department wants to seize a property of Leclerc in Saint-Calixte, in the Laurentians, and to register a legal hypothec on a building in the same municipality, as well as one in Montreal.

Is that in October 2013, the police organized a strike against the network, during which Leclerc has been arrested.

“The sum of $ 45,000 […] was seized from a safety deposit box registered in the name of [Leclerc] Scotiabank “, one can read in the lawsuit.

Accused of drug possession in view of trafficking, Leclerc eventually pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of conspiracy, scooping a suspended sentence of 18 months and two years of probation.

Following its investigation, Revenu Québec has concluded that Leclerc had “omitted” to declare 613 000 $ of income. Therefore, it has been contributed for nearly $ 250,000 of unpaid tax.

But the agency feared to never see the color of his money, since his arrest, Leclerc has sold several of its vehicles, including a shiny Hummer. When he learned that he was the subject of a tax audit, he sold six other vehicles, including a snowmobile, a Cadillac and a motorcycle Harley-Davidson.

In addition to the seizure and legal mortgages, Revenu Québec also calls for the administrative seizure of the bank accounts of Leclerc, although the agency ignores the balance of these.
