The maintenance employees of the STM have voted 98 % in favour of a bank of six days of strike action in the general assembly on Sunday to use “at the appropriate time”.

Despite the adoption of this means of pressure, the members say they still hope to reach a negotiated agreement with the Société de transport de Montréal.

In a press release issued Sunday, the union has accused the employer of addressing the “various measures of work-family balance acquired in the past.”

“Never in the history of our union, the employer had not been as demanding and aggressive to the acquired trade union”, said the president of the union, Gleason Frenette.
