The ministry of Health considers that it should not draw hasty conclusions and make links too fast between the death of a young paramedic, 24 years of age and the lack of ambulances on the territory of Lévis.

The Journal reported yesterday that Hugo St-Onge died of cardio-respiratory arrest in the night of 26 to 27 December. A sexagenarian of Lévis is also deceased at a few minutes interval.

No ambulance was available on the territory. It is a vehicle of Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse, who has been assigned to both calls. “We’re going to take the time to analyze the situation, but we don’t want people to conclude falsely that the arrival of more quickly an ambulance would have been able to change the outcome of the situation. There are several elements that will be regarded in this respect “, says Marie-Claude Lacasse, a spokesperson for the ministry of Health.

    Applications

For the past several months, elected officials and paramedics of Lévis have been urging the minister of Health to add vehicles, to no avail.

“The allocation of vehicles ambulance and schedules are the result of the application of a grid which is rigorous and it is, in fact, continued analysis, continued Mrs. Lacasse. If the analysis shows that it is justified to add vehicles, you will adjust, but for now, we made additions in the areas that require it. “
