    15 years ago, Porsche introduced the Cayenne. Renowned for its sports cars, the German brand succumbed to the temptation and sold a large SUV.

    There are many purists who are offended. A truck does not have its place alongside the legendary 911, it was said. A decade and a half later, the sales of the Cayenne speak for themselves. If Porsche is still alive today, it is thanks in large part to the SUV.

    We are now in 2017. Almost all manufacturers now offer an SUV, and the Cayenne remains a vendor of choice in the family Porsche.

    The Stuttgart manufacturer is well aware of it, and it has just unveiled an all-new generation of its truck, the third only since its inception.

    Subtle changes

    The new Cayenne 2019 (yes, already!) m not reinventing the wheel; its design resembles greatly to that of the old generation. It speaks more of an evolution than a revolution.

    At the rear, the SUV is now taking fire which converge from one end to the other of the vehicle, a design that follows the latest versions of the Panamera and the iconic 911.

    A little longer and a little lower than the vehicle it replaces, the new Cayenne is also adopting a line more aggressive than before.

    Inside, the changes are somewhat more marked. The cabin is now dominated by a huge touch screen, high-definition 12.3-inch. The majority of the commands on the dashboard are moving away from the traditional buttons and turn toward the touch screen technology. It is beautiful, no doubt about it. But with gloves in the winter, it is a bit less convenient…

    Two versions… for now

    As part of this launch, the new Cayenne has been presented in two distinct versions: the Cayenne and the Cayenne S.

    The Cayenne “base” will be moderated by a V6 engine, the turbocharged 3.0-litre, 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. It is enough to make it go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds when equipped with a feature “Launch Control”.

    The other version, the Cayenne S, will rather appeal to a V6 twin-turbo 3.9-liter, whose power will be increased to 440 horsepower and 406 pounds-foot. It can reach 100 km/h in 4.9 small seconds.

    Faithful to his habits, and Porsche will certainly be other versions that will be added to the range of the new Cayenne in the course of the next few years. Do not, therefore, the versions GTS, Turbo and plug-in hybrid will eventually be back. Just have to be patient.

    The new Cayenne 2019 may just be to be unveiled, but it will not happen in canadian dealerships until the summer of 2018. We announce a prize of 75$ 500 for the basic version and $ 92 600$ for the Cayenne S.
