The outdoor more and more popular among young people

    QUEBEC | Le Salon outdoor, hunting, fishing and camping Quebec already has 37 years, but this year, the edition has a different taste: his audience is getting younger. Young people are increasingly interested in the outdoors.

    “Now, what is interesting is to see that young people are returning to nature,” says the director of the Show, Roger Saint-Laurent.

    A mission that gives the SEPAQ, the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec. The organization wants to bring the young people in the nature.

    “We are in the process of making a package draw for young people. One of the canoes on, we walk, we are going to far in the forest, one of the grids to make meals on the riverbank. It is an adventure for the young people,” says Sylvain Boucher, director of the Laurentides wildlife reserve.

    Young people under the age of 35 years are the largest users of tents and over the past five years the traffic in the campgrounds provincial has increased by 6 %.

    Alexis Pageau, a native of L’ancienne-Lorette, is passionate about fishing. Today, influencer and facilitator, he has an entire community that follows him in his adventures.

    “We like to think that we influence people to make a return to nature because, what you see in our pictures, the message vehicle and what we saw in our travels these are the real things. It is a return to the sources”, he explains.

    In 2016, there were 1.6 million campers in the province. That is to say, nearly 20 % of Quebec’s population, a figure that is constantly increasing.
