    ROUYN-NORANDA | The photo of a barber punk of the Abitibi lying on the ground in the process of cutting the hair of a child with autism has made the world tour, which propelled him as a featured world in the world of barbers.

    The barber Francis Jacob, nicknamed Franz, spent the week-end to give interviews in major tv channels in the world.

    A photo of him cutting the hair of Wyatt, an autistic child of 7 years, has been viewed millions of times and it has received thousands of messages of parents everywhere.

    “This is crazy. I never thought it would have such an impact. For me, no matter who is on the chair, I will always do my best to meet his need. People want good news. And this is a good news which is happening in a strange time, ” he says.

    The mother of Wyatt, Fawn Lafrenière, says that this simple picture has sensitized many people to the reality of people with autism.

    She has long searched for a good barber for his son, who does not like to be touched.

    “With Franz, it is different. It is the love that he has for Wyatt that makes the difference. It takes time and is not in the money, ” she said.

    It can sometimes take up to 90 minutes for the barber to complete the cutting of the child.

    “Since a week, I created a good network of barbers everywhere in the world. I hope I have inspired people, ” he says.

    A three-hour drive

    Franz opened Franz Authentischen barber two years ago and immediately became a character in Rouyn-Noranda. With his big beard, his tattoos and his clothing is original, it draws attention. People can take up to three hours of road to get their hair done by the one who is never short of anecdotes.

    “I had 50 lives before being a barber. I’ve done the food in Japan, was a DJ in Mexico. I am a punk who has rushé not wrong in my life and I gamblé to open it here. Yeah, my living room is small, crooked, and dirty. There is not even a mirror. But at the same time, it is nostalgic of another time where we gossiped and we fill it “.

    Its living area of 50 square feet approximately is filled with photos, flags and objects from the time period. A spittoon that was just an old hotel in the Wild West side with the bones of mammals and photos of his ancestors.

    “The idea was to reproduce the barber shops of the time. There is no place for men to talk to Rouyn-Noranda. So here, this is what we do, jase, ” he said.

    His living room is reserved for men and one is there without an appointment. Sometimes, customers clink glasses and discuss around a glass. Franz does not provide alcohol, but clients sometimes leave bottles.
