The school bus drivers of Transco to accept the agreement-in-principle

    MONTREAL – school bus drivers of the company Tranco agreed Wednesday on the tentative agreement reached between their union and their employer.

    The workers have approved 81 %, in a secret ballot, the agreement of 6 march last, has informed the trade Union of workers of Transco-CSN (STTT-CSN) in a press release.

    “We have accepted a new work contract of five years with salary increases following : 1.4 percent retroactive to July 1, 2017, and 1.6 % on July 1, 2018, 2 % on 1 July 2019 and 3 % for each of the last two years of the employment contract, beginning July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2021,” said Carole Laplante, president of the STTT-CSN.

    Recall that last January, the union members had rejected the offers of employers to 98 %, while continuing their strike mandate.

    The approximately 330 drivers from Transco are responsible for more than 300 routes to school transportation on the island of Montreal.

    “We must continue our fight so that all women workers and all workers of this sector may receive a wage that recognizes the skills and responsibilities required to perform this work,” said Stephen P. Gauley, president of the transport Sector school (STS) of the Federation of employees in public services (FEESP-CSN).
