The science of humor to the study in Montreal

    Hundreds of researchers and practitioners of the humor of the four corners of the world gather in Montreal this week for a conference all that more serious.

    Clowns professionals, psychologists, therapists, and many researchers will present workshops at the UQAM on the science of the study of humor from Monday until the 14th July.

    “We often forget that, but humour, like any emotion, influence our relationships with others, and so we can study it,” explains Christelle Paré, a postdoctoral researcher and member of the organizing committee.

    The workshops will focus, among other things, on the importance of humour in the workplace and the motherhood, for the comedians of the female.

    If the comedy shows are very popular in Quebec, the science of humor is still quite unknown, ” she says.

    “Often, researchers of humor feel that they are not taken seriously, because this science is still poorly known,” says Ms. Paré. So this is a great opportunity for them to come together and exchange. “

    While cities like London have several university courses in science and humor, there is nothing of the kind in Quebec.

    Montreal is the first canadian city to receive the annual congress of the International Society for Humor Studies since it was created, there are 29 years of age.

    According to Christelle Paré, whose research interested in the industry of humour in the metropolis, Montreal is definitely one of the funniest of the planet.

    “Everybody knows Montreal, because it was one of the biggest comedy festivals in the world,” she said in reference to the event Just For Laugh.

    Several scholars from North Africa, Iran and Turkey, among others, not able to be present because Immigration Canada has denied their visa requests, says Christelle Paré.
