“The security in the palace of justice is in danger”, according to the Union of the special constables of the government of Quebec.

The firing of a special constable on a warned, on Wednesday, at the palace of justice of Maniwaki, could have been avoided if the constable had not been alone in that position, ” said Frank Perales, president of the Union of the special constables of the government of Quebec.

“The union denounces the situation for a number of years. We should arrive there so that maybe things are moving a day. There are palace of justice currently where there is a lack of manpower. The constables are left alone to ensure the safety of the premises”, he said on the air of LCN, Thursday morning

“We consider that the security in many courthouses in the province is in jeopardy,” added the president of the union.

Mr. Perales has confirmed that the constable involved in the incident was struck by the accused, with his own stick telescopic.

“The accused grabbed the stick of the constable and struck him.” The officer was seriously injured.

“It is affected by all of this, but it has been discharged from the hospital, and it is at rest,” said the president of the union.

    Compromised security

The event, filmed by a witness shows the officer in an attempt to control the suspect, but also ask for help from the security officers who watch helplessly at the scene.

“Hey, I need help here”, threw the constable to the security agents, as we can see on the video.

According to the president of the union, if the constable had not been alone, this would not happen. Moreover, the security personnel do not have the training to restrain a person who resists.

“We don’t want to take anything away from anybody, but the security officers do not have training, they don’t have the equipment, no code of ethics, they are not subject to the law on the police”, explains Franck Perales.

“If there had been a second or a third constable, we reasonably believe that these events would never have occurred. We would have been able to subdue the suspect and handcuff. Due to a lack of resources, we reached an unfortunate event like yesterday,” laments the president.

    Want to smoke

A simple urge to smoke would be at the origin of the clash between the special constable and the young accused person who has been struck in the head by a projectile from a firearm.

By pure chance, the victim of 18-year-old should be out since the shot has penetrated his nose to lodge into his neck, not causing damage to the brain, according to the family.

The scuffle is quickly become viral after a witness had published a video that has made the tour of Quebec. On Wednesday evening, the publication had more than 886 000 views and 24,000 shares on Facebook.

We can see the peace officer, who grabs the young man, that you can’t identify because he appeared before the youth court, in order to master it. His mother begged the constable to let go of her son. The security officers are watching the scene, speaking only on rare occasions.
