    A first day of strike action has been voted by 94% of unionized Centres de la petite enfance (CPE), if the negotiations planned for today and tomorrow do not give the desired results, launches the CSN.

    400 CPE, of which 578 facilities that are affected by this strike, anywhere in the province. The 11,000 workers involved are without a work contract since march 31, 2015.

    Negotiations stall particularly on the points relating to the protection of the quality of educator and support to children who require special needs, provided by the service educators and educators specialized.

    “For us, it is clear that we do not want to go to the bottom, lower the quality, lance Dany Lacasse, vice-president of the private section of the Federation of health and social services (FSSS) – CSN. In the demands of employers, it decreases.”

    The parties, trade unions and employers (the treasury Board, the ministry of the Family and the employers ‘ associations) will meet today (October 24) and tomorrow.

    “It also keeps the agenda open to other days of trading) for the rest of the week,” Mr. Lacasse. The objective is to give space to the haggle and parents. The goal is not to do it, this strike. The goal is to put the necessary pressure.”

    In addition to the quality of educator and support to children requiring special needs, the union also denounces the setbacks requested in the insurance plans, and retirement and calls for a wage increase.

    “It was a block of six days of strike action, voted to 94%. If one does not arrive at an agreement tomorrow, we made a day of strike action on Monday 30 October,” says Dr. Lacasse.

    While the sessions négos, this week, to coincide with the beginning of the hearings of the Commission on the study of the project of law n°143, which aims to improve the educational quality and to promote the harmonious development of childcare services to the children – Mr. Lacasse calls on the government to consistency between its policies and the mandates it gives to its traders.
