The themes of the G7 in Charlevoix are specified

    The prime minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday announced the themes that will guide the canadian presidency of the G7 in 2018 in Charlevoix, Quebec.

    In the course of the next year, Canada wants to advance the national and international priorities arising of the five following key topics :

    • Invest in the economic growth that benefits everyone;
    • Prepare for the jobs of the future;
    • Promote gender equality and the empowerment of women;
    • Work in respect of climate change, oceans and clean energy.
    • Build a world more peaceful and more secure.

    In the months prior to the leaders ‘ Summit, Canada will hold a series of meetings of the G7 ministers, who will address these themes.

    The prime minister also unveiled the logo of the G7 in 2018, which pays tribute to the natural landscape of Charlevoix.

    Canada will host the leaders ‘ Summit of the G7, which will be held in the Charlevoix region, in Quebec, on 8 and 9 June 2018.

    This summit will be the sixth hosted by Canada and the first that will take place in Quebec since 1981.

    The vertices of canadian precedents have taken place in the region of Muskoka, Ontario (2010), in the region of Kananaskis, Alberta (2002), Halifax (1995), Toronto (1988), and at Ottawa and Montebello, Ontario and Quebec (1981).

    The G7 includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
