The government Couillard supports the third link, but not at any price, said Véronyque Tremblay.

“What I say to you, it is that it is sure that we will respect our ability to pay. This is what I said. […] If it made no sense as the amount… but for the moment, we do not know”, said the minister for Transport Thursday, during a media scrum at the exit of the liberal caucus.

Ms. Tremblay responded to the imminent announcement of the tramway project of more than $ 3 billion for Quebec. It has been argued that Quebec could afford both a tram and the third link.

Unlike Montreal, where we are going forward with the new Champlain bridge, an electric train and the metro’s blue line, several people in Quebec are in opposition to these two projects, she lamented. She requested that the region of the “see more”.

In the same breath, Ms. smith recalls that the costs of the third link are not known. “This is why we have announced a study and a folder of opportunity. We will respect the steps,” she said.

She said that the downstream end would be given only after analysis of the results of this study, even if the government Couillard has an “intention government serious” for this project, and that we would take into account the capacity to pay of Québec.

    “Be reasonable,” said the CAQ

The Coalition Avenir Québec has also put a damper on the price of the third link. When a reporter asked the mp, Genevieve Guilbault if there was a maximum amount that the CAQ was ready to pay for this project, she replied that”it must be reasonable.”

To know the costs, “it will be necessary to complete the study and see the result”, she added. François Legault has already yet claimed that the proposed third link would be launched during a first mandate of a government caquiste.
