The United States blocked the delivery of aircraft missiles Scalp-EG of Egypt : In the World : Vladim

News 21 February, 2018

The United States prevented the sale of French aircraft and tactical cruise missiles Scalp-EG Egypt, which was to equip the Dassault Rafale fighter jets, also purchased from the French side.

Previously, France had agreed with Egypt on the delivery of 12 fighters, but at the moment negotiating the acquisition of several fighters themselves inhibited by the US decision to block the supply of cruise missiles. This circumstance slows down the negotiations, as the government of Cairo, forcing the purchase of fighter aircraft in the amount of 12 pieces to previously purchased 24 units, to obtain operational-tactical missiles. The American side refused to approve an export license to Egypt one of the components, manufactured in the USA.

As a result of these actions by the States the contract, which was fully prepared by the end of last year, currently remains unsigned.
