Thunderstorms: more than 12,000 Hydro-Québec customers without electricity

    Thunderstorms caused thousands of power outages in several regions of Quebec, on Saturday. According to Hydro-Québec, other service interruptions could occur as a result of the storms expected during the day.

    “The summer storms sometimes violent come quickly and without notice. They can cause significant damage to the network and cause outages,” said Hydro-Québec.

    On the whole of Quebec, 158 interruptions were reported on the stroke of 10 a.m. and involved a 12-063 subscribers of the corporation.

    The three regions most affected were the Montérégie with 4740 customers without electricity, Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine (2276) and Montreal (1732).
