TORONTO – The producer Tilray has partnered with the drugstore chain Shoppers Drug Mart – Pharmaprix in Quebec – to provide products of medical cannabis.

The business of the British Columbia, one of the producers and distributors of medical cannabis in Canada, made the announcement Friday.

The agreement between the two companies is, however, subject to the approval by Health Canada of the application for authorisation of a Shoppers Drug Mart that wants to sell cannabis products.

Under the agreement between the parties, Tilray provide to Shoppers Drug Mart products in the medical cannabis bearing its name.

Tilray has stated that it is anticipated that these products will be sold online, given that canadian law prohibits their sale in retail pharmacies.

“The products of Tilray are currently sold in pharmacies in seven countries around the world, said the president and ceo of Tilray Canada, Brendan Kennedy, Friday, in a press release. Today’s announcement is a milestone strategic as we seek to develop the brand in a dominant world of medical cannabis by increasing the availability of a diverse range of cannabis products is of high quality pharmaceutical to patients in need.”

Shoppers Drug Mart has entered into a similar agreement last December with Aphria, an ontario producer of medical cannabis.
