TORONTO – An 11-year old boy lost his life Tuesday afternoon, after being struck by a vehicle near a school in the neighbourhood of Milliken in Scarborough, in the north-east of Toronto.
The accident occurred at about 15: 30 p.m. near the public school Kennedy, reported CP24.
The child was transported to the hospital, where his death has been found.
“This is the second child this year to have lost their lives near a school. It is necessary that everyone be careful in the school zones,” said Clint Stibbe, a spokesperson for the Toronto police, CP24.
According to the police, the boy was struck while crossing the street. The motorist remained on the scene after the incident.
“We don’t know if it was on the pedestrian crossing or not, this is what our agents reconstitutionnistes will determine,” said Mr. Stibbe.
“This type of incident is tragic for everyone. We need to determine what happened to prevent this kind of accident”.
An investigation has been opened.
