It would be more difficult for a drama like the one in Las Vegas happening in Canada, according to the specialist Michael Wilson, former commanding officer of the battle Group intervention with the SPVM.

The exact profile of the person responsible for the killing of Las Vegas is still not established, but what we do know is that he had collected an arsenal in his hotel room, where he made a fire. In all, investigators have found 47 various weapons, including 23 guns.

“I would say that this would be more difficult that it happens here, because the criminal Code classifies firearms into three categories : non-restricted firearms, the firearm restricted and prohibited weapons”, said Michael Wilson.

“In the first category, it is not required that a permit to acquire and possess to have the care of a firearm. In the other two cases, it takes in addition to a certificate of registration”, stressed the specialist.

The former commandant recalled that in Canada, “the automatic weapons are completely prohibited. Some semi-automatic weapons, depending on the number of bullets in the charger, also can be prohibited. Here the maximum is five bullets in a charger”.

In all cases, Michael Wilson has made it known that there is an investigation “when there is a demand for firearms. It is that which we from the United States, this is the thing that protects us”.

On the motives of the killer are still not known, the specialist does not explain it. “That is probably why they request the assistance of the public, he said. But as all the family members, friends or acquaintances of the killer don’t know, it’s still mysterious.”
