A type query to the Jordan to bring down the charges of insider trading by Montreal’s David Baazov, the former boss of the firm, Amaya Gaming, has been rejected.
Judge Salvatore Mascia of the Court of Quebec, said this afternoon (Monday) at the Palais de justice de Montréal, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) had not delayed too long to disclose the evidence in this file.
“The matter is particularly complex,” he wrote in his decision.
“The public ministry has (…) demonstrated the existence of exceptional circumstances justifying exceeding the limit of 18 months” (after the filing of statements of offence), said the judge.
David Baazov and several co-defendants are subject to charges by the financial markets Authority (AMF), in particular for insider trading.
The transactions alleged in connection with the acquisition by the former firm of Pointe-Claire Amaya (today’s Group of Stars) of the group owner of the site Poker Stars to US $ 5 billion in 2014.
