NICOLET | Two persons, including a woman of 61 years old, were arrested Tuesday at Nicolet, in Centre-du-Québec, following a search that aimed to dismantle a network of drug smuggling.

The police are invited to the trade of pawnbroking Monster Spot and the residence of its owner, Pascal Martel, who has been arrested. A woman, Johanne Lagotte, has also been arrested and his apartment was searched.

“We have seized more than 2500 tablets of methamphetamine, $ 9,000 in cash, cocaine, marijuana, and tobacco contraband”, has listed the sergente Eloise Cossette, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

While searching the trade, the police have found a weapon not very common: a pen that transformed into a gun artisanal class .22.

“It is really homemade. This is not the kind of weapon that we perceive very often. We will send it to the lab,” said the sergente Cossette.
Pascal Martel is well known to the police. He had been sentenced, there are just two weeks to pay a $ 25,000 fine for selling contraband tobacco.

It is, this time, accused of possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of conditions. He will remain detained pending further court proceedings.

The raids carried out Tuesday, was in response to an investigation that began a few weeks ago.
