A nurse and a patient care attendant were injured by a man of 25 years old on the night of Friday to Saturday at the Montreal general Hospital. The suspect will be charged with aggravated assault and assault causing injury.

Admitted to the emergency last Friday evening following calls from citizens, the man flowed freely in the hospital. At 3: 30 p.m., the SPVM police officers responded to an emergency call after it is entered into the space reserved for the nurses and tried to strangle an employee.

A spokesperson for the SPVM has stated that the individual is not known to the police. He is expected to appear Tuesday at the palace of justice.

“The investigation will determine if there is a first event of its kind with this person, or if it is a mental health problem that occurred in a short period of time,” said Benedict Boisselle of the SPVM.

A private security firm is present in all hospitals, the emergency department and on the floors. They are the first to respond, but do not have the power to make an arrest.
