Two people were transported to the hospital after an explosion in a home in Trois-Rivières on Friday.

We do not fear for the lives of the two wounded, but one of them was transported to the burn Unit in Montreal.

The explosion occurred in the early afternoon in a housing of the rue Saint-François-Xavier, near the Saint Joseph Seminary, in the Old Trois-Rivières.

The exact cause of the explosion that occurred at the last floor of a quadruplex is still unknown.

However, it seems that it was important. On-site, TVA Nouvelles was able to see that all the windows of the fourplex were shattered, a door has been torn off.

In addition, a wall of the building is out of its axis and the roof has been moved. This forced the firefighters, who were concerned about the integrity of the structure, to get out of the building.

“Significant damage to the building level, it is this that makes it so that people cannot enter the building. It has requested the assistance of the engineers in the building of the City who will attempt to certify to us that there is no problem “, explained the head of the police.

The engineers have concluded that the structure was strong enough for the moment, but this may change with the precipitation of snow. The fire brigade will work quickly.

For now, all tenants have been evacuated and they will not be able to return to their home before the structure has been solidified.

A large security perimeter was erected, and the command post is on site.
