GRANBY – It’s going from bad to worse to the intensive care unit of the hospital in Granby. The nurses have a second “sit in” (to stop spontaneous labor) in two days, Tuesday, to denounce their working conditions.
The nurses on the day shift remained at the house Monday and Tuesday mornings, and have refused to return to work as the team work was not complete.
The union and management had to sit down twice to quickly find employees to fill the gap.
A situation that is not improving…
In 2013, a position of night has been closed to the intensive care unit of the hospital in Granby. A measure that is not conclusive since, there has been an increase of sick leave, absenteeism, and also work schedules too often incomplete. For example, for the shift on the night of Tuesday, it lacked two nurses on three.
Out of breath, they must make up for the lack of staff recurring and regular mandatory overtime.
Sanctions for nurses
The direction of the hospital said not to be able to tolerate such actions on the part of its employees. Considering the consequences on the staff and the clients, she will scold the nurses who took part in the “sit in”. The disciplinary measures have not yet been chosen.
A meeting is scheduled for Thursday between the FIQ and the direction. The union is demanding measures to improve conditions of work, among other staff trained and available to work on the intensive care unit of the hospital in Granby.
