The new network of transport Québec’s $ 3 billion will be put into service in 2026. It will include 23 km of tramway, 17 miles of trambus, 16 km of new hov lanes, four interchanges, and of the mechanical links between the low city and the high city, to serve 65% of the population to less than a 10-minute walk.

The construction will begin in 2022 after the design, plans and specifications and bid documents and the system will be in service partially in 2025, and then completely in 2026.

The tram will not pass through to Lévis. At best, the service trambus will be able to get there. Same rates
For the same rates that currently, with adjustments for inflation, the users of the RTC will be able to take the tram, between the sector and IKEA Charlesbourg, 38 minutes, passing through the boulevard with two tunnels, in Sainte-Foy and in Montcalm, towards Saint-Roch.
The trambus will be a line of D’estimauville, Sainte-Foy, passing by the Red Cross and a line to the Centre Videotron.

We are also planning to add two mechanical links between the upper and lower city style is a funicular at the bottom of Joffre and the Cégep Garneau.
The total cost of the network will be $ 3 billion, entirely the responsibility of senior governments. This is in addition to investments of $ 300 million for Quebec City for urban facilities, mainly extensions of roads, sidewalks, planting.

$ 155 Million for the operation
In operating costs, the RTC provides for $ 155 million per year. On the 56 km of transit, 1.7 km of lanes of traffic, cars will be removed, mainly in the area of the boulevard Charest, at the entrance of the city.

3 % growth in modal share
With its new network, the RTC seeks an increase in ridership of 29 % in 2026, with projections of 35 % in the future. This means, however, a modest increase of 3 % in the proportion of people who will be shifted from the auto to transit, since the number of vehicles on the roads will continue to increase. This represents one person out of five that will be travelling by public transport at peak hours, and 12 600 cars less on the road network.
