Excluded from the agreement of $ 2.1 billion last year, the owners of diesel vehicles 3.0 L Volkswagen will also be entitled to compensation in the context of the scandal of the engine-fixing.

The canadian firm and the German firm announced Thursday night be come to an agreement for the owners and tenants of about 20 000 diesel vehicles 3.0 L affected.

Recall to repair

A recall has been launched on Thursday for vehicles with 3.0 L Volkswagen Touareg (models 2013 to 2016), Audi Q7 (models 2013 to 2015) and Porsche Cayenne (models 2013 to 2016) since a repair of the emission control system has been approved in Canada. The owners and tenants affected will receive a notice by mail.

Another notice will be sent when the reminders for vehicles Audi A6, A7, A8, A8 L and Q5 (2014 to 2016) will be launched for those cars whose repair has also been approved.

“The fact of participating in the recall will not prevent the affected consumers to make a claim to get compensation,” said Sylvie de Bellefeuille, a lawyer for Option consommateurs, which has filed the appeal.

For Volkswagen vehicles and Audi with a diesel engine of 3.0 L models 2009 to 2012, there will be a redemption, exchange or early termination of the lease. The option of repair of the emission system can be added if an amendment is approved by the regulatory bodies in the United States, which is not currently the case.

The agreement must be approved by the courts before they take effect. The owners and renters of vehicles 3L, no action is to be taken to the time to get their allowance.
