    With the approach of the feast of Easter, the ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) wishes to remind the public that buying a pet is a decision that should be carefully considered.

    “Although the Easter holiday lasts only 24 hours, the animals are living longer and getting larger quickly! For example, a rabbit has a life expectancy of about 10 years,” says the MAPAQ.

    Each year, numerous animals, and more particularly the push, ducklings, and young rabbits are adopted and then abandoned by their owners to end up in shelters.

    The MINISTRY reiterates its concern about the well-being of these animals and encourage the public to take into consideration some aspects in his thinking. In particular, the ability to meet the essential needs of the animal throughout its life, as well as costs related to maintenance, such as veterinary care and the purchase of food
