Will the 3DS disappear with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch?
With the arrival of the new Nintendo hybrid console, the future of the 3DS seems more uncertain than ever.
With the coming of the Nintendo Switch, which recently unveiled its different modes of play , many uncertainties still circulate on the future (or rather the non-future) of the 3DS. Indeed, with a hybrid console, capable of being static as well as portable, one did not give expensive of the future of the 3DS. However, the president of Nintendo America Tatsumi Kimishima, wanted to reassure the players. The 3DS is very well thanks, and at no time is there any question of replacing it . As proof, the portable console released in 2011 had its best year in 2016, the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon certainly being there for nothing. In addition, the CEO confirmed that many differences would persist between the 3DS and the Switch. The 3DS would indeed have “unique characteristics” , that would not have the Nintendo Switch , as well as their prices very different would not address the same audience.
Yet, by taking out the Nintendo Switch, the risk that the Nintendo hybrid console does not phagocyte the 3DS is real . To avoid this, Nintendo must at all costs continue to offer regular and qualitative content on 3DS, while offering certain titles exclusively intended for the portable console. The Japanese firm will have to start feeding its two consoles in parallel so the Switch quickly take over the portable console.
