QUEBEC | The minister of public Safety, Martin Coiteux, said “follow closely” the winter storm that is raging all over Quebec and more importantly in the east of the province.

“The regional directorates are in relationship with the municipality and the partners involved. Coordination centres have been opened in some municipalities affected,” said Friday on Twitter the minister of public Safety.

A winter storm, accompanied by high winds, blowing over eastern Quebec since Thursday evening, preventing movement and forcing authorities to close some roads.

Recall that the intervention of the government of Philippe Couillard had been roundly criticized last march, when 300 vehicles had remained prisoners on highway 13 in Montreal, in a snow storm. The prime minister had apologized to Quebecers for this “kerfuffle major”, promising in the same breath to better manage the storms ahead.
