Women’s march: rallies planned in Montreal and elsewhere in the country

    A second women’s march will take place, Saturday, in more than 40 cities in Canada, including Montreal.

    The participants in this gathering, which is intended to be non-violent and inclusive, are expected to 11 a.m. at Place des Arts. Several elected officials and public figures are also expected.

    The organization of the women’s March in Canada promoting the improvement and respect of women’s access to health care without discrimination, to the improvement of their economic security, their representation and their safety.

    “Once again, we are demonstrating in solidarity with groups around the world promoting the rights of women and humans, we manifest again to show that progress would be made in 2017 are not sufficient. Still a lot of work remains to be done in relation to the protection of the rights of women and the most vulnerable citizens,” one can read on the website of the event.

    Last year, the walk had been organised in response to several measures “antifemmes” adopted by the american president Donald Trump, then freshly entered into the post. Tens of thousands of people had demonstrated across Canada, according to the organizers of the walk.

    This year, the event is expected to focus more on the denunciation of sexual assault and the culture of rape that has been going on throughout 2017, with the words click #Metoo, #ÇaPassePu, and #OnAgit.
