13 Reasons Why: 5 reasons for his victory

Cinema 26 July, 2017

It’s official, 13 Reasons Why has won the 2017 World Cup. Here are the 5 reasons why we think that is why!

It was announced to you yesterday that 13 Reasons Why won the Series World Cup against The Vampire Diaries. If the Netflix series was expected to win in the face of the scores she made in other matches, it must be admitted that she was not necessarily a big winner when the competition was launched. So it was a great surprise for all fans of the series who deserved to win even if The Vampire Diaries fought well throughout the competition. But then what made 13 Reasons Why victorious? Here are 5 reasons why we think Netflix’s teen drama won the cup this year:

The appeal of novelty
13 Reasons Why has arrived this year as a real bowl of freshness in the world of teen drama. Far from what the CW can propose, the Netflix series prefers to rely on the adaptation of a novel that deals with hard but important subjects. Lovers of TV series, and teen shows in particular, have rushed on this series. Here, the “new” side of the series has largely played in his favor, certainly because it had been a long time since there was no such series.
A solid and devoted fanbase
The arrival of 13 Reasons Why on Netflix has made a lot of noise – it is also part of the most commented series on Twitter in 2017 – and the episodes have conquered many seriesphiles. In dealing with necessary, important and often difficult subjects, the series reached a large audience which quickly became a strong and devoted fanbase. It’s definitely not for nothing that Netflix has decided to renew 13 Reasons Why for a season 2!

An original concept
In addition to being able to play the novelty card among the other competitors of the Series World Cup, 13 Reasons Why also came up with a very original concept that undoubtedly appealed to viewers. Little by little, the story of Hannah Baker, the high school girl who ended her life, is discovered through cassettes that she left behind to explain her gesture and blame those responsible. The suspense then remains entire until the last episode on the why of how and we find ourselves caught up in the stories of his teenagers, without being able to let go our screen.
A first season better than the last season of The Vampire Diaries?
This is obviously a matter of tastes and preferences, and some may have preferred Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries, but, on our side, we must admit to having been much more touched, surprised and moved with 13 Reasons Why. If we have to recognize that The Vampire Diaries offered us a final season, qualitatively speaking, that season 7, Netflix’s teen show has nourished our reflection and certainly opened many people’s eyes to certain things.

The absence of Game of Thrones
We’re not going to lie, there’s a very good chance Game of Thrones beat 13 Reasons Why if it was part of the official competition. Indeed, this year the broadcast HBO series was shifted to July and hence it competed in the pool of the series of the summer, which it also won hands down. Game of Thrones is definitely the one that could have scored 13 Reasons Why in this 2017 World Cup, but we’ll never know it!
