24 heures chrono may return. Still.

24 heures chrono could have been a nice end. After 8 seasons, Jack Bauer, the hero inimitable interpreted by Kiefer Sutherland, was entitled to a farewell perfect, disappearing in the nature, and escaping finally to his destiny. At least until Fox decides to bring it back to Live Another Day, season 9 pointless which will be completed in a fish tail, leaving the heroes on a cliffhanger.

Since then, there have been 24 : Legacy, renaissance of the brand with an all-new hero, who has not convinced anyone and was cancelled after 12 episodes. Of what to think that Jack Bauer is going to finally rest in peace, relic of a bygone era. Except that the producers and creators, and certainly the Fox, see things differently.

Jack Bauer, between the family and the traitor : season 1

Interviewed by IndieWire, the producer Howard Gordon explained that he was working with the creators of the original series, Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, on two new versions of 24 hours chrono.

“We advance on the two tracks simultaneously. It is over, and Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran will be involved on what they will have the patience and the energy.”

One of the versions would be very close to the original series with Kiefer Sutherland. The second is the version, already mentioned, which takes place in the decoration of the palace of justice and the courts. Why hang on to the 24 heures chrono despite the failure to Live Another Day and 24 : Legacy ? Howard Gordon answers :

“It is a format in which it is believed still to tell a great story. I recall the series with my 13-year old daughter, and it is fantastic to see that it still works. I see it and I forgot most of the things that happen, and I say to myself, ‘Wow, that was really good !'”.

Season 5, one of the best of the series

It is the Fox who suggested to Gordon to find Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, to discuss a rebirth of the series. The chain had been enthusiastic a few weeks ago, conjuring up exciting ideas.

Howard Gordon says that nobody wants a return purely motivated by the dollars. Difficult to really believe it until 24 hours chrono has offered an epic fantasy, but widely enough between 2001 and 2010, for a mirror chilling and exciting America’s post-September 11. And like so many other series, difficult to disassociate from a Jack Bauer that was as much the hero as the subject of intrigue.
