Gadgets, there are in a car in 2017.
Some, such as the camera, have become indispensable. Once one has tasted, it is difficult to get. Others, however, have absolutely nothing necessary.
After all, this is not because one can integrate a feature in a car that you should necessarily do it. So here are seven options offered by many automotive brands that are pretty close to nothing.
Seats massaging
After the seats are heated and ventilated, that some models are now equipped with seats… massaging! Yes, you can pamper yourself in the back, rolling on Highway 20.
Even if this remains limited to a few luxury cars, the recent arrival of seats massaging in models like the Ford F-150, suggesting that these could increase in the coming years. A bit dangerous, no?
Display illuminated logo
This is for those who are in lack of attention. Some models (in Genesis and Mini, in particular), cast a light of their logo on the ground when they are locked or unlocked. A bit like Batman in the sky of Gotham.
A bit of a stretch, don’t you think?
Power tailgate
Does one really need an electric motor to open the tailgate of a vehicle? It would seem so, because this option became available on almost any SUV on the market.
Some will say that this is handy when you approach the vehicle with their hands full. But between you and me, it happens to you that often?
Camera in place of the rear-view mirror
General Motors has begun to revolutionize the good old rear view mirror which sits at the top of your windshield and replace it with a view camera. Instead of a mirror, so this is a screen that is located in your rear-view mirror. The goal: to provide a broader view that reduces blind spots. The day where the camera will break or will be buried by the snow, however, it will be less obvious…
Pallets of gear changes
The paddle-shift report to the steering wheel we will never forget the fun of driving with a true manual transmission. This is one gadget that very few drivers will actually use.
Low-beam headlights automatic
The idea is not bad. In the evening, the car detects when another vehicle comes in opposite direction and switches the high beam to the low beam, and vice-versa. Except that in practice it never works very well, and then we finally get to tan and do it yourself.
Windshield wipers are rain-sensing
The windshield wipers, “smart” and detect if the rain hits the windshield and adjust their intensity according to the strength of the precipitation. Not crazy. Except that, as the lights automatic, the system sometimes includes hurting the situation and not adjusting appropriately the speed of the wipers.
