While we didn’t want to really, the Ninja Turtles are back for a new series, called Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which looks very, very, very, very weird…

Since their inception in the early 80’s, The Ninja Turtles have seen green and not ripe. The series passed on Canal + 30 years ago, of course, that we did know, the comic book original, good hardcore and adult as we like, the three films of the 90s (the first, directed by Steve Barron, is still worth a look today), a plethora of animated series of a variable quality, a film in synthetic images and, of course, the atrocities committed by Michael Bay there are not so long.

Anyway, all that to say that if The Ninja Turtles are no longer what they were, for a long time, they are still popular. To the point that the channel Nickelodeon has commissioned a few months ago, a new animated series for les ch’tits no children should be broadcast during this year. It is called Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , and that, once is not custom, the delirium is still pushed far enough.

In fact, this time, our turtles are invested with mystical powers, surrounded of course April O’neil and Splinter, and will have to fight an all new villain, the Baron Draxum, capable of transforming humanity in the mutant. It is even his diabolical plan. So far, nothing abnormal, this kind of delirium, it is usually. But where it risk of entrapment, it is in the artistic direction chosen. Nickelodeon has indeed adapted the turtles in the graphic style of it’s own chain, and we are left with a strange mix between Teen Titans Go ! and The laboratory of Dexter, all of it with an animation technique that reminds us of the old tv series in Flash. We will not say that it is a bad idea, even if we think very strong, but it is clear that this bold choice is widening a little more the gap between old fans and new.

History of you make your own mind up, you glue the trailer that has just recently come out, like that you will not be able to say “I don’t know.” The series should be at least 26 episodes, and although its release date to US is still not arrested, there is no doubt that we will see it also happen in France. You have been warned.
