Star Wars The Last Jedi: reactions, memes and theories following the title announcement
The revelation of the title of Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi has left many perplexed fan and fueled much debate about the potential plot of this sequel.
The Last Jedi translates into The Last Jedi, meaning that only one Jedi remains or remains at the beginning or end of the film. But we must also know that Jedi in the plural is written Jedi, so the title can also be translated as The Last Jedi. The question is, who is / are this last Jedi?
The obvious answer seems to Luke, since it is at the time of episode VII the last Jedi still alive. However, the force has awakened at Rey and Luke can be expected to make Rey a Padawan in order to transform her into a Jedi. If Luke remains the last Jedi, it means that Rey will never become Jedi. And if Rey is the last Jedi, then it means that Luke will die in the next episode. If the title is in the plural, then everything is possible …
And why is the title red when it was yellow before? The last time the titles were red, it was announcing bad things, as in The Return of the Jedi, The Revenge of the Sith or the Brothers and Revenge episodes of Clone Wars. In Episode III, Anakin becomes Darth Vader, in Episode VI, Luke has a final fight with Darth Vader, and in episodes of the series, Darth Maul makes his comeback. This red title announces very sinister things.
It should be noted that in the opening credits of the Force Alarm, indicated “Luke Skywalker was gone. In his absence, the sinister First Order arose from the ashes of the Empire and will not stop until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has not been wiped out. ” Asked about the subject at the Sundance Festival, Mark Hamill says: “When you read the script of the Revival of the Force, the first words are ‘Luke Skywalker disappeared’. Oh baby, it’s gonna be good! I’ll have a good role! But further on we read ‘until Skywalker, the last Jedi, is wiped out’. And there we thought, I did not know! I saw the movie twice and I wondered why they use that phrase that way, because it refers to me. And I think it’s very ambiguous. Is the last Jedi Leia? Is it me ? Is that someone we’ve never met? Is that Rey? Because she seems to have strength as well. Then we’ll have to wait and see. ”
