The Deuce, the new series from David Simon (The Wire, Treme) with James Franco and Maggei Gyllenhaal, will be one of the events of the season.

“It’s not TV. It’s HBO. “In the area of the new millennium, HBO ruled the landscape of american television, with works compelling as The sopranos, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, Oz or The Wire. Since, the competition is set up facing the channel, and AMC, Showtime, FX, Netflix, and other Amazon have gained ground.

While the end of Game of Thrones approaching, and that Vinyl was cancelled after a single and a very expensive season, only the very ambitious Westworld seems to be able to steer the ship, alongside the series excellent, but more discreet as Veep.

James Franco loves James Franco

This is where The Deuce comes in. This portrait of the porn industry in the New York of the 70’s and 80’s, with James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal, will play a potentially important role in the future of the chain over the next few years. First reason : it’s the grand return of David Simon, creator of the cult series The Wire, which helped to establish the brand image of HBO in the year 2000. Writer, journalist, screenwriter, and producer has since shone with Treme, beautiful work on The New Orleans post-Katrina, and the mini-series Show Me a Hero.

Second reason : The Deuce promises to be especially exciting and interesting, and could even be placed as a remedy to Vinyl , which had disappointed many fans.

Art Direction glitzy, photo-rich gallery of characters wide : The Deuce sells dreams in his new trailer. David Simon is known for her thoroughness, her extraordinary attention to detail and the talents of a narrator beyond the intrigues classics, the series could get a picture of profound and without concessions to the industry of the pornographic cinema, of prostitution and of the whole political system and the judiciary that has allowed them to exist.

James Franco will be particularly strong in the series since he played two roles, has made two episodes and will be credited as an executive producer. Maggie Gyllenhaal, she, wanted to be a producer, in order to have a minimum of control over his character prositituée.

Rendez-vous on September 10, on HBO, and in the wake on OCS City in France.
