LAVAL | The Service de police de Laval (SPL) has proceeded to the arrest of an arsonist responsible for at least two fires to residences under construction and any door to believe that the defendant would have been able to ignite other fires.

Jean-François Quévillon, a 21 year-old man, was accused of having set fire to the first home under construction on 15th avenue, on the 30th of September, in the area of Laval-Ouest, causing damage of about $1 million.

A week later, on 7 October, it has recurred, this time on 17th avenue. It is near this last in an inferno that he has been apprehended.

The SPL is believed that the accused could have committed to other fires in the area between the months of march and today, when more than a dozen fires have been reported in the area.

The SPL on Monday launched a search to find witnesses.

“His Modus operandi is always similar, has launched Geneviève Major, spokesman for the SPL. He lights the fire directly on the exterior siding of the residence or he uses a nearby object, container, bin or other, it lights up and the fire spreads to the surrounding area. Since the month of march 2017, a dozen fires were also listed in the same sector and we are looking for witnesses who have information to provide to advance these investigations.”

The man leads since last September, a Mazda 3 2005 color beige, whereas previously he owned a Honda Civic 1998 black color.

Quévillon was known to the SPL for similar crimes and he is still held. He will be back in court on November 10.
