Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, president of Turkmenistan, has decided to ban vehicles black in Ashgabat, the capital of the country that he governs. The head of State is superstitious and this color would bring him bad luck. Just a quirk!
He said prefer by far the white.
However, it has a Bugatti Veyron and the last is green.
This regulation entered into force at the turn of the new year and the cars in black have been transported to the impound facility without notice. Nothing less.
According to what we could read in The Diplomat, repainting a car will cost from 7000 to 11 000 manat Turkmen (2500 to 3925 $ CDN), while the average monthly income is 1000 manat Turkmen (357 $). Given the precarious economy of the country, this additional burden on the locals was probably not necessary.
It is not the first regulation of “extreme” introduced by Berdymukhamedov in terms of transportation. In 2014, the tinted windows have been strictly prohibited.
