The auction house RM Sotheby’s will proceed, on the 9th of September, at the auction of a Ferrari Daytona, is absolutely unique.

A priori, it was simply the air of an old car, dusty. However, it is estimated that it will sell for a sum ranging between 2 and 2.5 million.

The reason is simple, this 365 GTB/4 Daytona is absolutely unique.

The total production of Daytona between 1969 and 1973 amounted to 1200 units. For car racing, including the 24 Hours of Daytona, five copies have been assembled with an aluminium body. Only one homologated for the road was produced with this body type. And this is the one.

The advantage of aluminium is that it does not rust. So even if it has been abandoned in a barn for nearly 40 years, it is not rusty. It is worn, tatty and very dirty, but at least it is not rusty.

In 1969, the car was bought by Luciano Conti, founder of the magazine Autosprint. Subsequently, she was sold, then repurchased a few times. In 1980, she ends up in the hands of Makoto Takai in Japan. There it has remained hidden ever since.
